Skating Rules for Skaters for Release Of Liability

By purchasing an admission ticket and/or entering the Rink, you are aware that ice skating involves certain inherent risks which may cause serious injury or death. You freely volunteer to participate, and accept all known and unknown risks while in our facility. Further, you release Fortuna Skate Zone, its owners, directors, employees, officers, agents, sponsors, and operators against any claims and liability for any loss, damage, injury, or expense you may incur.

The Participant and/or their parent(s) or guardian understands, acknowledges, and agrees that ice skating is an inherently dangerous and physically demanding activity. Participating skater assumes full responsibility for any risk of injury, property damage, or death while participating in activities at this establishment. While rules, equipment and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious injury or death does exist. Participant knowingly and freely assumes all such risks, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of such rules and regulations.

Participant and/or their parent(s) or guardian hereby waive and release Fortuna Skate Zone from all liability for any loss, damage or expense and any and all claims including, but not limited to, bodily injury including death and property damage they may have against Fortuna Skate Zone and all sponsors of the ice rink establishment and their subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, officers, directors, employees, agents, and volunteers arising out of Participant's use of the ice skating rink and all surrounding areas.

Participant and/or their parent(s) or guardians agree(s) to abide by the "Code of Skater Conduct ", as posted within the ice rink area, for the use of the ice skating rink and will follow the instructions of the operating staff of the rink. Failure to follow these codes of conduct may result in the termination of Participant's use of the ecological ice skating rink, the rental ice skates, and the surrounding areas without refund. Participant willingly agrees to comply with the stated and customary terms and conditions for participation. If participant observes any unusual significant hazard during his/her presence or participation, they will bring such to the attention of the nearest official immediately.

Participant permits Fortuna Skate Zone to use any photographs, videotapes, recordings or any other records taken while on the ecological ice skating rink premises for publicity, advertising, or any other legitimate purpose. Should any legal action or proceeding be commenced by either party hereto in connection with this release of liability agreement, the prevailing party or parties shall be entitled to recover from the losing party the prevailing parties' actual attorneys' fees and costs incurred in connection with such action or proceeding.

By purchasing a ticket or entering the Rink, Participant (or parent/guardian of participant) understands that they are releasing Fortuna Skate Zone, its owners, directors, employees, officers, agents, and all its sponsors from any potential claims for negligence and for any damages caused by Fortuna Skate Zone, ecological Ice Rink events, and any and all sponsor's negligence. Participants and or parent/guardian give up their substantial rights by purchasing a ticket or entering the Rink and do so freely and voluntarily without inducement.

As a parent or guardian with legal responsibility for the Participant, by purchasing a ticket on having your minor enter the Rink, you consent and agree to his/her release as provided above. Parent/Guardian of Participant agrees to indemnify Fortuna Skate Zone, and all sponsors of the ecological ice skating rink establishment and their subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, officers, directors, employees, agents, and volunteers from any and all liabilities incident to the minor child's involvement or participation in the ecological ice skating activities offered by the ice skating rink establishment, even if arising from the negligence of Fortuna Skate Zone and/or a sponsor of the ice skating rink establishment to the fullest extent permitted by law.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES AND UNDER NO LEGAL OR EQUITABLE THEORY, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE, SHALL FORTUNA SKATE ZONE OR ANY OF ITS AFFILIATES, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, DIRECTORS, AGENTS, SPONSORS OR OPERATORS BE LIABLE TO THE PARTICIPANT AND/OR ITS PARENT OR GUARDIAN FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE ARISING OUT OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE PARTICIPANT PARTICIPATING IN ANY ECOLOGICAL ICE SKATING OR RELATED ACTIVITY.

Skating: Safety Rules

Find the right helmet

The most important safety precaution is to get your Helmets or your kid’s helmets that have been approved by the Safety Standards prevailing in India. You can find them at the same location where you buy/rent your skates, so there's no excuse to not get the right helmet at the same time.

Maintain your skates

Skating on dull skates can be dangerous. That's why we recommend having them sharpened after 15 to 20 hours of skating. The blades of skates differ by the type of skates; Hockey skates can be sharpened at the rink.

Teach your kids the basics

Just as you taught your kids to walk before they could run, make sure you set kids up with the basics of skating before sending them out on their own. We suggest beginning by teaching kids to do a two-foot glide while keeping their feet straight. From there they can move on to making with the insides of their skate blades as a way to stop. When they're ready, the two-foot glide can be progressed into doing turns and squats to improve control and balance.

Choose safe rinks

Unfortunately not all rinks are created equally, and this can affect whether or not a rink is safe enough for your little ones to learn to skate. We recommend going to indoor skating rinks. Outdoor rinks should be avoided, since they often don't have smooth surfaces or side boards for safety.

Skate safely with your little ones

We suggest making sure you skate properly with your child when you're on the rink together. We encourage skating side by side, and if you're skating in circles, keep your child on the outside of the circle. If, for instance, you're skating counter-clockwise on a public rink, you should be holding your child's hand, and he should be on your right side.

Sign them up for skating lessons

Although there are some things you can teach your little ones about skating safely, professional lessons are an invaluable resource. Many parents can struggle on occasion to keep control of their own skating, which can make teaching little ones difficult. We explain that professional coaches can take better control of children when they're on the ice with them and can introduce basic skating skills in more technical detail. They can also more easily identify any potentially dangerous or incorrect habits kids are making and fix the problems. So if you want to ensure your kids enjoy safe and happy ice skating experiences for years to come, signing them up for classes is the best way to do so.

Ice skating rules for increased safety

First of all we would like to wish you happiness and fun with skating. We are in the back office ready for a successful year with many Skating Projects. But first, we thought to share with you a few pictures taken over the holiday season from different parts of the world where we have seen interesting skating projects. Especially over the holiday season, it is really important to make sure you understand and communicate the ice skating rules to your friends and relatives. Ice skating rinks tend to get a little overcrowded and might seem intimidating for some people. One of the things that comes in mind when seeing such crowded ice rinks is: is it safe? And the answer is yes, it is, as long as the people on the rink respect some basic safety rules. Our task as the ecological ice rink constructor is to make sure that the ice rink provides high quality surface and that it respects all the rules and regulations. In order to be complete safe though we have to also let our clients know which the rules that the skaters have to respect are. Even if you are a beginner or an experienced skater, these simple regulations will make the experience on the ice during this time less stressful and will bring you more fun!

  • It is recommended to wear protective gears such as helmet, gloves, elbow pads, and knee pads;
  • Beginner skaters should skate along the sideboard;
  • Skaters should not carry infants and toddlers or secondary items, such as cameras, handbags, etc. while skating;
  • Excessive speeding, skating against the crowd or weaving through other skaters should be prohibited;
  • It is unsafe to sit on or climb over dasher boards;
  • Skating in anti-clockwise direction is recommended;
